Thankfulness: Enjoy What You Have

We all have those days when life brings more work than we have energy to complete. Some of us have had years like that.

But in all that busyness, do you take the time to enjoy the life God has given you?

No matter what big things threaten your happiness, you can always choose to appreciate the beauty of nature (even in a barren winter), a child’s smile, and – if nothing else – a deep breath.

When you notice yourself scrambling in frustration, struggling to accomplish more than is humanly possible…Stop.

Working endlessly is pointless. Each frantic moment is forever lost.

Be still and know that I am God. – Psalm 46:10

Allow time to slow down as you close your eyes and breathe.

Remember that God is in control, and He loves you.

Open your eyes and thank Him for everything good in your life – even the tiny things (after all, sometimes that’s all we can see in the chaos!). Know that each one is directly from Him.

Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. – James 1:17

It’s not always easy to see yourself as frantic or choosing chaos, but if you feel time slipping away as you worry and work yourself into sleeplessness, take a moment to be still.

Be thankful for what you already have.

God’s in control – admitting that is your first step in finding happiness. He never gives you work that He doesn’t provide the strength and time to do.

So evaluate the work at hand. Do only what He has given you. Ask Him for directions, and follow the next step put in your path.

Then just breathe. And thank Him for every good thing in your life.

Especially if it’s a piece of chocolate. 🙂
